The Club squash leagues are a great way to play matches, get to know other members and improve your game. They are open to all senior club members male and female and to Juniors with the approval of the organiser.
Leagues will usually consist of either 4 or 5 players with matches being played over a 4-5 week period. Matches are played best of 5 games English scoring with points being awarded as follows:
1 point for playing the match
1 point for each game won
1 point for winning the match.
Please make sure that you clearly record the points on the league sheets after the match.
In the event that you cannot complete the match in the court time you should record the points scored up to that point unless by mutual agreement you can re-play the match. However, priority should be given to trying to play all your league matches.
If you are also on the Club Ladder, your match will also count as a ladder match and you should also record the result on the Club Ladder results sheet so that it can be reflected in the Ladder.
The Club leagues are at the heart of the club as they are they are a great way for new and existing members to play matches and get to know other members. Therefore, so you should make every effort to play your matches in the allotted period. In each league one person will be shown in RED and they are designated to take a lead in getting all the matches played by contacting the other members of the league to get things going. If you find that any members of the league no longer want to play or are injured etc, please let me know.
At the end of the league period the general rule will be that one person will be promoted and one demoted from each league based in the points scored. However, I will exercise my discretion ( and my decision is final ) in circumstances where this system is not possible ( eg because of other joining or leaving the leagues )
In order to encourage the playing of matches there will be a CLUB LEAGUE TROPHY and prize of a new squash racked awarded to the person who has scored the most points during the winter leagues. This will be presented with the other trophies as the Finals Night of the Club Tournament.
The Leagues will be posted on the Club Website Bowdonclub.com and will be sent out by e-mail.
